EPA easing 2022-2025 emissions goals in favor of automakers despite California objections

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is listening to carmakers who say the projected emission goals in 2022-2025 are far too difficult and costly to reach. The emissions goals were proposed by California's CARB (California Air Resources Board).

The emissions restrictions amount to feel good legislation and government overreach. By pushing these goals CARB is not accomplishing anything other than handicapping automakers in the US while those selling in the rest of the world will never be held to the same absurdly strict standards.

    CARB's Stanley Young is unhappy:

California paved the way for a single national program and is fully committed to maintaining it. This rumored finding -- if official -- places that program in jeopardy. We feel strongly that weakening the program will waste fuel, increase emissions, and cost consumers more money. Weakening the standards is not in the interest of the public or the industry.
BoostAddict feels CARB is a waste of money and redundant considering the EPA already exists. Want to reduce fuel, decrease emissions, and save money? End CARB.

Keep in mind CARB said last year they will enact their strict standards no matter what and defy the White House. It seems that rhetoric is being toned down now that they realize the EPA is calling the shots.

The EPA has not finished compiling their new standard but rest assured California will not be able to kill off the performance car or the V8 engine any time soon.

It serves as an example as to what happens when leftist lunatics get power. California will be forced to get its house in order soon enough.
