    • 632 whp single turbo BMW E92 335is DCT vs. bolt on Nissan GT-R, Huracan, nitrous Charger, Hellcat Charger, Ninja, and tuned W205 C63 AMG

Here is an E92 BMW 335is with a Doc Race single turbo N54 setup. The car makes 632 horsepower to the wheels which is plenty stout when coupled with the DCT transmission. It is hard to argue against the DCT being the highest performance N54 transmission option.

Just take a look at the runs below for evidence.

The 335is goes up a tune and exhaust Nissan GT-R first. The GT-R gets walked.

A Lamborghini Huracan with an exhaust is up next. The Lamborghini loses as well.

How about a Charger with some juice? Nope. The Charger needs more juice. Another Charger that looks to be a Hellcat tries a run and it seems the 335is jumps the count but pulls regardless.

The Kawasaki Ninja run just seems off. Maybe a poor rider? Who knows.

Last but not least is a tuned W205 C63 AMG M177. The C63 opens a slight lead only for the 335is to catch up and pull past. The best run of the bunch.

      Certainly a stout N54.

Does the DCT have any modifications?

Finally a high horsepower DCT equipped N54. I’d love to see a twin setup at the track with this kind of power, amazes me no one seems to be running High powered DCTs.

It boggles the mind guys haven't figured out the DCT not only makes their cars quicker but can be built to take whatever the N54 throws at it.

I just don't understand it but whatever.

Same sticky, I’m sure the N54 “records” would fall in short order. The best transmission to get these cars out of the hole faster and the quickest shifting option by a mile. Especially since how cheap you can pick up a low mileage 335is for now. Honestly surprised no shop has done this yet.

Totally agree, but then there are those who think pumping their left leg and moving a lever through space is "more involving." I would rather be faster with both hands on the wheel. I only wish I had space to add the DCT fluid cooler from the M3.

I am admittedly mystified by why a person knowledgeable enough to build this car would think that the intake scoops provide even a scintilla of benefit below 125 mph. Mostly they reduce the efficiency of ambient air flow to the radiator. The high pressure area above the front radiator is sufficient by itself.

At least no under hood power robbing DCI.

No funny fuels or internal modifications?

Not that I'm aware of but you know how people are when disclosing their mods...

Nope. I would have went broke to swap my 335xi to DCT if it was possible.

This is honestly what I have been waiting for (i need a new trans now), but haven't seen anyone actually do this yet.

It depends on which ZF you are getting they are not all created equal....

The 335i has the weakest 8 speed ZF, the 8HP45/50

I would say you would need at least an 8HP70 to be strong enough to reliably hold 600+whp

It does fit as the link below shows thats what Alpina used in the B3 and B4 cars, they didn't keep the stock 8HP45/50 for a reason....

I know he already has one, the reason to upgrade to Audi is because it outperforms the 335xi in every single category.

A car 10 years newer and costs $50k more outperforms my car? You don't say...
